TRACEY SWANEPOEL
MBA
Non-executive Director
tracey@2tp.co.za
Tracey Swanepoel started her career as a
strategic planner in the advertising industry, working for
FCB; Ogilvy and Mather; Grey Advertising and O2
Communications. In 1999 she set up her own business focusing
on internal marketing and strategy, based on a unique
process for internal marketing and communication which she
developed as part of her MBA dissertation.
In 2002 she joined the executive team of her largest client
Harmony Gold Mining Company in the role of internal
marketing strategist. In this capacity she was responsible
for setting up a variety of channels aimed at reaching the
diverse target audience within the company (a microcosm of
South African society). These channels included an in house
radio station (which drew external advertising support); an
industrial theatre group drawn from the mines own
underground workforce; multiple internal publications;
strategic conferences and in house MBA level leadership
programme in conjunction with Wits Business School.
She also led two strategic change initiatives, (partnered by
Mckinsey): one in the area of shared services, and the other
focused on the corporate strategy, culture and operating
system.
Her role was expanded in 2006 to include the external
marketing portfolio. Tracey resigned from Harmony in August
2006.
Tracey’s area of passion and expertise is internal and
external stakeholder alignment. She consults and is
currently writing a book on strategic alignment - coalescing
theory and best practice in South Africa into a practical
“how to” guide for executives and senior managers.
Tracey has a BA Communications (Hons) (cum laude) and an
MBA.
